Conception & Objectives
  • The Euro-Africa Committee was created in 1976 on the basis of an idea of Past International President George Friederichs from MD 103 France and Past International President Giuseppe “Pino” Grimaldi from MD 108 Italy.

  • The objectives approved at the constitution of the Euro-Africa Committee have been:
    • To find new ways to get better familiarised with the differences between Europe and Africa and to cultivate friendship between the Lions of the two continents.

    • To support common community service actions, leading to a better comprehension of the Lionistic structure in Africa.

    • To promote mutual activities with the aim to learn from each other through common experiences.

    • To foster in Europe a better understanding of the culture and spirit of Africa, a prerequisite for an appropriate development and cooperation in Africa.
Where We Are Today
  • Today, after 30 years, our goals are mainly those to improve and to support the development in Africa, through some fundamental topics:

    • Education, including vocational training.

    • Fight against poverty.

    • Health care including eradication of avoidable blindness.

    • Working towards solution of these key problems give us the opportunity to improve human rights and to encourage the creation of a responsible society in Africa.
